Frog can detect earthquake

In 2009, the number of frogs in L'Aquila, Italy disappeared from the local pools, three days before the big quake.

Ms. Grant, a biologist from the Open University, observed the colony of frogs in L'Aquila as part of his research.

"It's very dramatic," he said. "96 frogs disappear within three days. After that I was contacted by NASA, "he added.

Together scientists from the U.S. space agency, they studied the chemical changes that occur when rocks in the earth experienced a big tekakan. They also were investigating whether the change is related to the mass exodus of frogs.

According to experts, geophysics, Friedemann Freund, said the rocks in the earth's crust is under great pressure, removing the particles. Particles released in the air when it reaches Earth's surface into the air molecules called ions.

These chemical changes can affect the dissolved organic matter in the water and makes the material is toxic to animals that live in water. That is the cause of animals such as frogs can detect strange changes that occur in nature.

The mechanism is complex and scientists say the process needs to be examined more carefully.

In line with Freund, the hypothesis the researchers (in a report published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health) said that the rocks in the crust of the Earth issued a charged particle, before the earthquake and this affects the water.

Scientists estimate that frogs can detect these changes before the tectonic plates shifted. Dr. Freund said the attitude of these animals can be one of a number of things that can be used as evidence of the earthquake.

"Once we understand all these signals and see there are four or five clues that lead to the same thing, then we can expect something to happen," says Dr. Freund, as quoted by the BBC Nature.

Animals are more sensitive to symptoms that occur in nature. We as humans still have much to learn in nature. This is evidence of how great God's creation, is not it?

The world's largest snake (Titanoboa)

Some scientists in Colombia have found fossils of a prehistoric monster believed to be the world's largest snake that ever lived on earth. The snake, named Titanoboa cerrejonensis was estimated to weigh over 1 ton and up to nearly 14 feet long.

Some scientists believe this snake lived on earth some 58 million to 60 million years ago. Geologist David Polly, who estimated the size and weight of Titanoboa fossil based position.

"The size of the snake was quite big. However, the research team is still thinking about how much heat is required to warm the earth snakes of that size. "

Titanoboa fossil was discovered by a team of international scientists in a coal mine in the tropics Cerrejon, Colombia. "Snakes are very big this really invites the imagination, but the fact that there has been exceeded in Hollywood fantasy though," said paleontologist Jonathan Bloch, who is also involved in the expedition.

"The snake that tried to annex Jennifer Lopez in the movie Anaconda is not as big snake that we found," said Bloch. Based on the size of the snake, Bloch explains, scientists can calculate the average annual temperature at the equator in South America 60 million years ago to around 33 degrees Celsius, about 10 degrees warmer than today.

"Tropical ecosystems of Latin America today is much different than 60 million years ago," said Bloch. "The condition of tropical forests is almost the same as today, but the temperature is hotter then and filled with cold-blooded reptiles is greater."

According to Nature.com, snakes are poikilotherms animal species (cold blooded), which requires the heat of their neighborhood creeps to raise metabolism. Therefore, scientists estimate that the giant snake living in the tropical ecosystems of South America with temperatures was not under 30 to 34 degrees centigrade.

Most of the current population of snakes found in tropical South America and Southeast Asia. Temperatures in South America and southeast Asia enables the animal to grow until reaching a large size.

The Exotic White Lion of Africa

Odd News - white lion occasionally found in wildlife reserves in South Africa and is a rare color mutation of the Kruger subspecies of lion (Panthera leo krugeri).

Has been perpetuated by selective breeding in zoos around the world. White lions are not a separate subspecies and they are never the same in nature.

Regarded as divine by locals, white lions first came to public attention in the 1970's in the book Chris McBride The Timbavati White Lions.

The largest population of white lions in zoos where they are deliberately bred for color. White lion population is unknown, but the number of the most recent was in 2004 and 30 are still alive.

White lions are not albino lions. In contrast, the white color is caused by a recessive gene known as chinchilla color inhibitor.

They vary from blonde to near white, but some can also be red. This gives white lions a distinct disadvantage in nature because they are highly visible.

This gives them away to their prey and make them an attractive target for hunters. According to Linda Tucker, in "The Mystery of the White Lions - Children Sun God" they are bred in camps in South Africa as trophies for canned hunting.

There are tables of Hairy Tyrex

Chinese paleontologists discovered the fossil species of feathered dinosaur fossils resemble a giant Tyrannosaurus rex indicated (Tyrex).

During these ancient scientists knew only a few small dinosaurs did have feathers like a bird, but not on the size of the fossils.

In a report in Nature describes a new species of tyrannosaur fossils as high as 9 feet and weighs about 1.5 tons. This report provides direct evidence of the existence of a giant feathered dinosaurs.

Type of theropod, which is also the oldest type of Tyrannosaurus rex, is a 40 times greater than previously known feathered dinosaurs.

Tyrex feathered dinosaur is named Yutyrannus Huali. This name is a combination of Latin and Mandarin, which means' Tyrannosaurus Hairy Beautiful ".

Professor Palaentolog, Xu Xing of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Palaeoanthropology Beijing said the new species is based on three specimens were successfully preserved.

"The hairs on the filament structure of the feather Yutyrannus is simple," said Professor Xu abc.net.au reported Thursday (5/4). Feather types, obviously Xu, more like a chick feathers. But the structure of the hairs are only useful to keep warm and do not work for flying.

Yutyrannus fossils found in a mine in Liaoning Province, northeast China. The fossil was discovered in a state of almost complete structural arrangement of the bones. It is estimated this Yutyrannus hiduo Dinosaurs Cretaceous period between 130 to 125 million years ago.

Paleontologist Dr. Eric Roberts from James Cook University in Queensland, said the possibility of fur to maintain body temperature in cold regions. "This fossil is interesting because it includes a combination of fossil primitive compared with other tyrannosaurs," Cook said.

This dinosaur fossils, explained Cook, has three fingers on each hand. And if there is a pattern seen in common with than Tyrex Allosaurus fossils.
